News 5: Wildfire

http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-42271223/man-saves-rabbit-from-california-wildfires In this piece of news, it first explains that a wildfire has lit up in California, a lot of people has been evacuated, many homes have been destroyed…but this particular video shows the moment a man stops his car, steps out and starts running into the fire chasing a little thing. We can see that the thing is really scared about the road but it also is about the fire. However, it decides to run towards the fire. The man looks desperate and when he finds the rabbit, slowly and with a lot of love he gets it between his arms and gets it away from the fire. This video is completely heartbreaking. Just thinking that the man could have easily run away from the fire, and, despite all, he decides to stop his car and try to save a little life, who doesn’t know the danger of the fire and is just running instintinctively. Videos like this one make you consider yourself lucky to live surrounded by ...

News 4: Chirstmas

http://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-england-norfolk-42252155/drone-flies-through-norwich-s-christmas-tunnel-of-light In this piece of news, it is explained that in an English village, they’ve set up a long bridge full of LED lights which dues its existence to the wish of the village major to motivate people to stay in the village during Christmas. In fact, the village has spent more than 60000 pounds in filling the bridge with light, but besides the reason I’ve explained before they also want to show their technological power. I find this piece of news really interesting. They are extremely good news that during the best festivity of the year there are some villages that spent money, investing in technologies, decorating the village and also trying to make a more powerful feeling of belongness to a village. I’m an absolutely freak about Xmas and I deeply believe that during this festivity something special happens to the world that surrounds us, and people show their good side at leas...

News 3: Indian hacking a Muslim

In this piece of news, it is explained that an Indian man who is a religious radical has hacked a Muslim’s to death and posteriorly has tried to justify his actions in a video, accusing the victim of attacking Hindu’s integrity. As the article goes on, it’s repeated that both Muslim and Hindu religion are having serious problems because they both accuse each other of trying to seduce the other religion’s woman with the objective of doing the religious war. In the case of the Indian man, he said that the Muslim was trying to do the jihad with Indian women, and that was intolerable. Once more, we can see the damage religion does. I deeply respect everyone’s opinion about religion, and the question of god’s existence. However, I’m an atheist and I can’t turn my head around when I see this kind of news. Religions should never reach to the point that they attack each other, leaving victims behind them. It’s really scary to live in a world where you can be judged by your beliefs, and eve...

News 2: "I don't like men"

In this other piece of news, the text is quite brief but the main aspect remains in a video. In this one, we can see a lawmaker who feels attacked and starts complaining when another man, in an act of trust, gets close to him and touches his arm. When this happens, the mentioned lawmaker says that he doesn’t like men and after that he orders the other man-who, by the way, is a democrat- to remove his hand from his arm. This piece of new, besides being stupid, hides a social issue. We, men, are afraid to show closeness to our beloved friends, if they are men. If a man kisses another man in his cheeks just as he would usually do to a woman to say hello, they are probably a gay couple who’s showing their love. It’s amazing how mind-closed we sometimes are! There is nothing wrong in showing love to other men, and there is absolutely no problem if you touch another man’s arm to explain something, require his attention or any other thing from him, really. We should learn a little bit ab...

News: Acid attack

In this piece of news, we can see how a girl who was a woman rights defender, and also an activist who fought against the legislation that tolerated the sell of some chemicals, such as strong acids was attacked. In this attack, the girl had his life destroyed when a guy threw at her acid. There are a couple of pictures in which we can easily see how her life was completely torn up. She was such a beautiful woman, and her facial expression is unrecognizable. These are the kind of news that personally upset me. That woman was an activist and she was the face of the activist movement which defended that the legislation had to be changed and she only got attacked for that. His name suggests me that she may be Muslim, which makes me think that she got attacked because of her religion and that she was an activist. Without being racist, I can generalize that the major part of the women who suffered acid attacks belong to Muslim countries, which is really concerning. That means that if yo...

Science

I’m a science guy, and for me it’s really annoying how the education system is organized. Science is more interesting than most of people think it is. Just because you think that calculating speed of cars in a road is boring doesn’t mean relativity or quantum physics is. Only because you’ve never heard of how stem cells work doesn’t mean that the path that a blood drop does inside our body is boring. Just because you think mathematical functions are boring and that they don’t have any application it means mathematics as a whole are boring. The most important part of science topics isn’t even mentioned in secondary. That’s a shame. Last year I’ve realised that my girlfriend, who is studying in the social batxillerat, finds interesting how relativity affects our universe. The problem is that if you want to know about these things you only have two options. The first one is having a good teacher, who’s passionate about his work. The other one is searching yourself divulgatory youtube ch...

How it feels to study in 2n Batxillerat

Nowadays I’m finishing the 1 st term of what has been the most difficult year for me. My marks are really high, and I’m really happy with my results. However, one thing doesn’t solve the other. It’s such a stressing year that one can only wonder:” Why?”. I mean, in our first year, first of batxillerat, the quantity of work to be done in different classes was so little that my chemistry teacher had almost finished all the explanations to be done in March. On the other hand, 2 nd of batxillerat is a really compacted year, and you have almost double the work to do, double de difficultness, and with half the time. And all of that considering that you have to present yourself into Selectivity, which is called that way because incineration of pure souls that course 2 nd batxillerat was too long. It’s a week in which you have 9 exams in 3 days and, in these exams, you have almost your whole future to be decided. Besides that, all the work you’ve done during the whole year is evaluated. I...

Train travelers

Villagers like me use to travel a lot with train. If you want to visit Barcelona and your parents don’t get you there, you have to use a train. Here, in Figueres, near where I live, there are two main different possibilities in train travelling; AVE and regional train. AVE means Alta Velocidad Española , which translates to Spanish high speed. That’s because this train is really fast, and it can drive you to far away places in matter of a couple hours. The issue is that everything good has its prize, and AVE isn’t an exception. Such a high speed and commodity isn’t cheaper than 30 euros. However, things can go worse. If your wallet is feeling empty and you need to travel, you can trust regional trains. These are trains that are absolutely amazing. Yes, it is incredible that they don’t fall by their own weight. When I travel in one of these I’m always surprised how I always get to my destination in one piece, and how the train, even if it’s old as my grandmother, keeps running OK. The...

Catalonia's independence

Right now, this is the most controversial topic to talk about. It’s a really deep political question and there are many different points of view. People may judge you by your position within the issue; if you’re unionist you’re most likely a fascist, but if you are a pro-independent activist you’ll be seen as someone who isn’t solidary. That’s really problematic, because if you express an interesting position, without taking part of any of the most famous positions, aka independentist or unionist, you are an idiot that doesn’t have the most minimum amount of grey matter and it’s trying to express an opinion about something that you don’t comprehend. That’s really idiotic, actually, because in life things are never black or white. There are different options, and all of them are respectable. I first was a crazy independentist and I wouldn’t listen to anything else than Catalan reports, and criticize everything else. Nowadays, I’ve grown up and I realised that thinking different isn’t ...

Game of Thrones

I’ve started this series with my sister and I’m enjoying it really much. I read the books long ago and I first thought that it wasn’t worth it to watch like five seasons in which I knew everything that already happened. Game of Thrones is a TV American show that already has 7 seasons, and the last one being recorded right now. Basically, it’s a series about a kingdom’s story, in which different Royal families betray, befriend and fight against them. There are plenty of charismatic characters, for me being the most important Tyrion Lannister, who’s a dwarf that defines himself-as he would do- as a man who only drinks and knows things. But the most interesting thing of the whole plot is that the principal writer, George Martin, isn’t afraid of killing characters, without mattering who’s good or who’s evil. So, whenever you start an episode you can’t be sure of what you’ll see, because it may happen that everyone ends up dying, even the most loved ones. Right now, I’m travelling to Barc...
